Henry Curtis
Beauties of the Rose, reprint of 1st Ed., 1980

$75.00 USA
$80.00 international
(book rate shipping included)

This reprint produced by Sweetbriar press combines the two volumes from 1850 and 1853. The reproduction of the original chromlithographic plates is exceptionally faithful. Curtis’ inimitable paintings, executed directly on the lithographic plates have a charm and brilliancy that many have compared favorably with Redouté’s work—less accurate in their textural portrayal of foliage, but precise in the number, shape and spacing of thorns, and superb in their representation of the flowers. 82 pages with 38 color prints.

Review of Beauties of the Rose by Jean Lewis, from Rosa Mundi, spring/summer 2007.

Roses of Yesterday and Today
reprint of the catalogue for 1959

$3.00 USA

This reprint of the classic catalogue that hooked a generation of Americans on old roses, is the classic stuff of rose lore, and a nurseryman’s triumph of rose romanticizing. Sweetbriar press reproduced this catalogue so that a new generation of old rose lovers might learn from the master rose salesman afresh. Xxx pages, reprint 198?
