Ann, sorry I did't see this earlier. Descanso Gardens here in Los Angeles has a beautiful R. Gigantea. We were just there too and I know I didn't get a picture this year...although we sure do admire this rose. I may have a picture from last year...I'll search the archives for R. Gigantea. EDIT. I found two from last year. Excuse the ugly mug in one of the photos (me). Also, the leaves and flowers don't look the same as some of the pictures on HMF. I am quite certain this is what Descanso has marked as R Gigantea...I just know if they are "correct". Bill

Darn! I went by the Santa Clara Rose Fence on the way home from a DR. appointment. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera because 'Folette' was covered in bloom 25' across and 7' high! |

Jill Perry just posted on ChezVibert some great pics of her R. gigantea dwarfing her and her shed...stunning! Pollen she mailed me in 2004 has given me two ESPECIALLY vigorous hybrids after I boinked a Wichuraiana Rambler with it...I may name them a new "species"....Rosa kudzuensis! |

On my list of things I want to see are: Rosa gigantea in bloom R. gigantea's kin in bloom R. gigantea engulfing a tree and in bloom. Any suggestions for where and when I might find these things in North America? |
