I just received an email from Gregg Lowery at Vintage ... he feels that my rose is probably Jacques Amiot. I'm good with that. Connie |

Wow that sure does not look like Ragged Robin! What is the quality of the perfume? |

I received a rose from Vintage last year as Gloire des Rosomanes. The poor thing has lived its life so far in a two-gallon pot, receiving minimum care, until I can get it into a permanent spot in the garden. I noticed a flower on it the other day (the first that I've seen), and it didn't look like I expected it to look.
Every description I've seen of this rose says that it's red ... this is definitely not red ... and it's WAY more double than I thought it would be ... and the buds are off. The whole thing just doesn't seem right. Here is a series of photos that I took, hoping to find a solution to the mystery. (I sent these to Vintage last week, and I haven't heard a thing, btw.) Another flower, past peak.
The back side of the same flower.
The remains of flower #1 (on a different cane), and a bud.
Buds below flower #2. The petals were dropping as I worked with it to get these photos.
Prickles, and a new lateral.
Any ideas? Thanks, Connie |
