I managed to get the mildew under control with baking soda. "Monster" is now the size of last year's six-month olds! Can't wait to see this thing flower.

They don't look like they're going to succumb any time soon. Monster has wonderful vigor.

Fa -- This may or may not be relevant, but I've found that a good many roses mildew here when they are immature, and "outgrow" the weakness in maturity. I guess if I had 1,000 seedlings to deal with, I might not be that patient with 'em, but this is a manageable number, so I think I'd wait-see what they do when they "grow up."

The plant is sprayed outside and only brought indoors when the spray has dried and the plant has been sprayed again--not necessarily because of any toxicity, but because I can't tolerate the smell of the stuff.

It is my understanding that Orthonex is an acephate based product. Are you stating that you are using it in your home?

If so you may be interested to read the following:

Hi, Folks,

Here is a photo of three seedlings of Nightmoss x Fa's Marbled Moss. They were stratified for two months and sprouted, and subsequently planted, on the same day. Two are growing slowly, like other seedlings I've raised, but "Monster" is... a weed. Is it something I did? Or didn't?

Also, "Monster" and two seedlings from last year's open-pollinated FMM batch have these amazing, long, paper-thin, almost tessellated-looking leaves. I've never seen the like before and can't wait to see the flowers, but I've noticed that all three of these seedlings are very mildew-prone. I've tried Orthonex (Orthinex?) with disappointing results. Is there something else I can try that's safe for seedlings?

Two normal seedlings and a Monster
