(I may be the last one to realize this -) Dan's bibliography for the Brownell article is now posted on the website! Go to "Resources" and then to "Rosa Mundi" - scroll to the bottom of the list, and there it is! Betty |

Dan: Its not so much the camera as the scanning process I think. I looked at some of my scanned photos from when before I had a digital camera and they had that same loss of clear color and liveliness. Plus I always noticed dust specks on the ones I scanned. Additionally, when you're not paying for film and processing you feel free to take many more shots of the same subject, improving your chances of getting what you want. A digital camera is great, haven't used film in the 3 years since I got one. And good ones are no longer expensive like they were 3 years ago. Mine focuses up to 3/4" away from the bloom w/o a closeup lens, which I like. Does an only so-so job on full garden shots though |

Great photos, Patsy! I probably should go more digital for that greater clarity. I'll give you a hardcopy of the Brownell bibliography at either the RI or CT Show. I'm still mystified & perplexed over why it was omitted . I really sweated over that baby, so as to make available in print the first detailed list of readings that I know of for the Brownell roses. |

I love 'Orange Ruffels' (spelling correct) too, lovely sort of a soft creamsicle color. Here's 'Golden Arctic', real hardy yellow Brownell pillar rose

I'd love to see your reference list that they left out of the Brownell article, Dan. Here's Orange Ruffels by Brownell Patsy

And this is the buxom 'Red Duchess', which the Brownells considered their most fragrant HT. I think they were right

In my Brownell HT article in the current ROSA MUNDI, I believe there were a few photos of rare varieties left-out, along with all of the bibliography, alas. That gives me the chance to attempt to post of few photos This is the Brownell HT 'Delightful', a warm melon yellow with tints of orange & pink
