Near the (very) old railroad tracks there are
some species roses-I know one has dk red thorny
stems and pink blooms, but the other day I found
a thornless (multiflora) which I had not noticed
before, I had never noticed any thornless species
before. I have a sucker which has foliage like
r.arkensas but it is a bit more blunt tipped and
a define gray/red color. small bristles. still
waiting for the blooms.

Looks like Rosa woodsii, or some subspecies thereof. The flowers are very variable in color on the ones we have here, though not generally on the same plant.
