Now, if you actually WANT cuttings of Dorothy Perkins, I'm about to give mine a huge haircut... |

On the other hand, there is a white sport of DP, White Dorothy Perkins. (I think it's a sport..). But, it looks exactly like DP, only white. You may have a less-petalled version of WDP? |

Thank you Steven, That's what I thought. All of these roses are own root, and I didn't think that it was possible for the DP to go back to r. multiflora. I got the DP from an uncle, and he must have had a r. multiflora plant mixed in with the DPs, but I have never seen the white one bloom with the DPs and I planted all of the 6 plants together in the same spot. All of the 6 have bloomed pink, and I know that I potted the DPs. I have no idea how this happened. Oh, well I may never figure it out!! (It's bad to be loosing your mind at 41!!! LOL) Thank you again, Stephen. |

The blooming plant is R. multiflora. Dorothy Perkins, or any other rose for that matter, would never "revert" to R. multiflora, even if they are budded to Rosa multiflora. Budded roses don't revert to the plant that is serving as the rootstock. The rootstocks have the ability of taking over the variety that is budded to it. |

I have taken cuttings and dug up suckers from a Dorothy Perkins last spring and summer, and in the last week, the plants have bloomed with white singles, which can only be r. multiflora. I know that I didn't get the cuttings and suckers mixed up, because I didn't take cuttings or dig up suckers from my r. multiflora until this spring. The 2 roses are at least 75 feet apart. Anyone have an guess what could have happened?? Thanks |
