I would wait till october/november to move the rose. A fence would be a better site. You may want to consider adding a blue clematis ("The President', 'Ramona') as a nice mate. |

it's hard to tell from the photos, but he is right up on the siding there. plus if I moved him he would have support from the fence rather then falling over and the 'lawn maintence' people running him over. here he is yesterday. its neat to see how fast he has grown in the last month. He lost a lot of leaves to bs and catapillars but the new growth looks good.

Thanks He was covered in aphids when I first moved in. Those seem to be under control now but he is still getting BS. I was consitering moving him about 20 feet away to a fence where he would get more air circulation then being right up against the wall. I was hoping that might help with the BS he seems to get. But I might only live here one more spring so I might not get to see him bloom again before I go if I do move him, but he would be in better condition for the next people. aphids last year:

Yes, no doubt anymore. But it's a nice looking healthy specimen of it, so you might as well train it onto a trellis and enjoy it. Unless, of course, you need the space for something rare and reblooming. |

I'll compare details to a known Dr. Huey tomorrow. Rootstocks are always a good first guess with a found rose. Your first picture seemed too pale for Dr. Huey, but now that it's darker... Jill |

near baltimore the buds are looking much redder then the flowers did last year.
and the tallest canes in front of the window in the last photo grew taller and then fell over during the recent rains.I think it might be happy if I got it some support.... |

I am starting to think that maybe I was wrong when I said it blooms on new growth. the more I read the more confused I am getting..... the thorns are red on newer growth but the older ones are tanish with black.
It has a lot more buds this year and they should be blooming any day now so I can get better sepal photos then.
it mostly has 5 leafed sets, but there is at least one 7 leaf, and a few 3 leaf.
this is how much it has grown in the past two weeks:

This rose came with my house. It was in bad condition, no one had pruned it properly in a while and it was covered in aphids and blackspot. I know nothing about it and would appriciate any info. Thank you. it has: 1-2" dark pink blooms fading to light pink, maybe bigger with better care?. Light fragrence. Blooms on new growth. Grows very quickly. Blooms in spring. Has suckers.
are there any other photos I should take to help with id? |
