John--What a splendid article you wrote on Descanso Gardens in the current ARA. Not only was it eminently readable, but I learned things I did not know before. Nor was it a rehash of other articles. Congratulations!

Next project: Kitty Belendez of ARS has asked me to write an article for 2007 Annual on history of Descanso. I have a pretty good data-base but would appreciate any info on Lammerts's original thoughts for the Garden or thoughts about the redo 10 years ago that folks mght have. Without getting TOO grandiose, I'd like to do a really good and comprehensive job.For those who have any thoughts about specific themes I might explore and the like, please let me know.
I'm having lunch with Ralph Moore ths Saturday to pick his brain and tweak his memory about all this.
Thanking any and all for help....
